Program Description

Hebrew College offers two degree programs in music. Through the Jewish Music Institute (JMI), educators, cantorial soloists and other interested students can engage in the world of Jewish music through the academic courses and certificate programs. Courses range from a historical survey of Jewish music to cantorial recitatives for the Sabbath and High Holidays, from prayer leading skills to chanting from the Bible. The Cantor-Education Program is designed to prepare cantors who are educator-scholars as well as spiritual leaders, and combines courses in Jewish music, cantorial arts, Jewish education, Jewish studies and Hebrew language.

Additional Resources

There is a wide variety of programs in Jewish Studies across the university, including intensive programs in Biblical and Modern Hebrew. The Rae and Joseph Gann library collection is one of the finest Judaica libraries in the region and includes substantial multimedia holdings .
