Program DescriptionThe Music Department offers a variety of approaches to the study of music. Studies in both Western European music and ethnomusicology provide in-depth learning for the major through courses in listening, performance, music literature and history, music criticism, composition and theory. Wheaton also offers a minor specifically in Ethnomusicology. Additional Resources Course offerings include courses in jazz, African-American music, and various topical courses and ensembles in world music. Through Wheaton's unique Connections program, students can explore various musical cultures in conjunction with other academic disciplines and approaches. Consortia and Cross-Registration
Students enrolled at Wheaton College may cross-register for courses at Brown University, provided that these courses are in subjects or areas outside of the Wheaton curriculum.
